How to get to Arras

By Train from Paris

Arras is a quick hour's ride on the high-speed TGV with numerous daily departures from Paris Gare du Nord.  Paris Gare du Nord is easily reached from all areas of Paris on the metro, bus or RER.

Paris Gare du Nord is also the arrival and departure station for the Eurostar in Paris.

It is also possible to get to Arras from the train station at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, however this can be a little more complicated for the inexperienced traveller as you will not only have to change trains in Lille, but also stations.  The TGV from CDG arrives into Lille Europe and the TER to Arras departs from Lille Flandres.  Fortunately they are literally next door to each other but it is not uncommon for travellers to overlook this when booking their train travel and miss their connection.

By Train from Lille

Numerous daily departures from Lille on the regional TER trains are available from Lille Flandres station and take approximately 40 minutes.

The Lille Europe station is serviced by the TGV and the Eurostar.  If you are travelling from England on the Eurostar, you can change trains in Lille instead of going all the way to Paris.  Note that you will need to change train stations in Lille to get the TER to Arras.

How to Book your Trains

If you are not using a travel agent, you can book your own train travel on the SNCF website. This site is in French only, if you change your language preference in the top right-hand corner, you will be redirected to the Rail Europe site where you can also choose your currency preference.

You can also purchase train tickets at any train station in France at the ticket counter or at the multi-lingual self service machines.  For the best prices, we recommend booking your train travel well in advance.
